Expected Buffalo 2023 Top 25 Sabres Prospects Rankings

The Buffalo Sabres have one of the best prospect pools in the NHL. They have a handful of A-quality prospects and a deep pipeline overall.

At the beginning of August, we asked fans to participate in our annual vote. Below is how the players ranked based on their average position in over 300 individual fan rankings.

Last week, the Expected Buffalo staff got together to create a 2023 consensus prospects rankings. As a reminder, here are the two rules we followed in this ranking:

  • Prospects under 23 years old.
  • Players that appeared in at least 41 NHL games were not eligible.

Following these guidelines, we handful of players that were “graduated” from last year’s rankings. Here is the list of those players:

  • Owen Power | 2022 Rank – 1 | Played over 41 NHL games
  • Jack Quinn | 2022 Rank – 2 | Played over 41 NHL Games
  • JJ Peterka | 2022 Rank – 3 | Played over 41 NHL Games
  • Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen | 2022 Rank – 10 | Age and games played
  • Lukas Rousek | 2022 Rank – 12 | Age

Below you’ll find the 2023 Expected Buffalo consensus rankings. The chart also shows where players were ranked last year. As well as the rankings for the four staff members and the fans.
